"Red Horse" is exemplary of much of Kseniya's work: bold + fluid forms, vibrant colors, mixed media, plant and animal themes, joyfulness with an underlying sense of unease or of the unexpected. The artist remembers little of her childhood in Russia, but a small horse made of clay, painted blue and red, echoes through her memories. Here it has galloped onto a panel, coyly inviting the viewer to consider their relationship to value, consumption, and taking-up-space.
