Artist Statement
With each painting I try to achieve a quality of light that you can almost feel, clarity of color, strength of composition, and sense of spirituality through my strong connection and deep respect with my Mexican/Native heritage.
After working with oils for several years as well as other mediums, discovering the quality of light and clarity of color in watercolors has kept me inspired and motivated.
I work at finding the balance between realism and the painterly aspects of watercolor. I enjoy the technical aspects of realism but I also enjoy when you let the medium do what it does naturally, the happy “accidents” that enhance the final results.
