Artist Statement
This work was inspired by a trip to the Cook Islands. It depicts my wife, Colette Crutcher, entering the island's lagoon, with snorkel and goggles, hoping to see a coral reef wonderland. But, global warming has already taken its toll, and the lagoon's former glory was a thing of the past. The various other elements in the drawing indicate our own implication in this process of degradation.
