Artist Statement
Signs are all around. They are designed to make us pause and refocus our attention. Not following signs will have consequences.
Our world has become a place where the truth and what rules apply to whom has become fluid. What we once took for granted is now flipped, chopped up, reorganized and sent back to us, often to suit a party’s best interest or specific needs.
This transformed road sign is my representation of that misinformation process. What does it say or ask now? Instead of trying to create controversy and division I hope viewers will bring their own personal meaning to it, smile and next time they see a traffic sign know that there are ideas scrambled inside.
