I create intricate weavings of watercolor paintings - I paint two images, cut them into strips and then weave them together. In the first painting, the concept involves three self-portraits of different stages of my life as an immigrant in the USA, painted in front of the Philippine flag. The middle figure wears a bandana with an infant as a symbol of a new beginning while gesturing a heart hand sign that symbolizes love and understanding of our fellow human beings. In the second painting, I painted several hand signs - solidarity fist, peace sign and thank you/praying hands - that have permeated our contemporary way of life, painted in front of the US flag.
