Artist Statement
"Bound Freedom" speaks of the historical submission of women, specifically African American women. Women are coerced to surrender and not to shine our magnificence. In "Bound Freedom," she is stepping out of the shadows, not wasting energy playing a victim, to claim her due respect and power. She possesses the courageous soul that dares not to be compliant to the imposed norm.
