While the majority of my work focuses on the natural world that is closest to us, this piece depicts one of man's instruments in the development or destruction of this world. I painted this using the less typical and rather challenging temperature scheme of cool light and warm shadows. In addition to the balance of temperature I also sought to create a balance between opposites, specifically growth versus decay, organic versus mechanical and finish versus unfinished. The "incomplete" image can be viewed simultaneously as building up or falling apart. i believe this is a truer depiction of how we experience our world.
