Artist Statement
My interests in memory, materiality, and narrative inform my photographic expression and artistic process. Integrating photography and raw materials, I chart elements of loss and ritual, and the possibilities within reiteration and experimentation. The ephemeral and the fragility of life permeate my work and continue to evolve in more abstract and conceptual ways through which I explore the potential of transformation.
This art work of a burnt madrone forest captures the haunting yet resilient cycle of life. The cyanotype is toned in the bark of this same forest and marked with burnt charcoal.
