Artist Statement
Research completed for "Ties" uses the digitized slide film taken in the early '90s and describes the unique experiences of Pamir and Caucasus regions of West Asia as a link between artist's present and past identities. The unifying ingredients in the work: textile, photography, and ceramics delineate parts of the world and dislocated cultural identities, and unite those elements together.
