Artist Statement
My woodcut, "Sylvia Robinson (1935-2011)", is the last of a series of woodcuts honoring African American women, who have passed, who were vocalists and played guitar or other string instruments. The series, all in black and white, create balance and contrast, specifically creating a dialogue between movement.
