Jill McLennan’s artwork shifts from local to global in subject, as she documents the movement of humans and animals around the earth. She is confronted with the people themselves, forcing other people out of their homelands, to travel across borders seeking new homes. Within this subject climate change plays a heavy toll. Her paintings address human impact on the earth through time, traveling back to a place inhabited by indigenous peoples and looking forward to a damaged landscape being reclaimed by nature. “I am processing the shadows we have cast on our beloved natural world and sharing the stories of those who wander searching for light.”
