Influenced by Southern California during the '80s & '90s, I chose plucky colors to halo the fauna. These haloes of flora embody my Native American (Seri Tribe) roots. The ring of botanical designs also reference my Russian heritage, through a reinterpretation of kokoshnik headdresses. I sought to weave together the floral designs of my heritage with diverse hues into an image that embodies the complexity of our biosphere.
