Every piece here is a self portrait.

I mean to say, a few years ago, i tried my hand at portraiture. It was during the pandemic and i was falling deeper and deeper into a well. From the bottom of the well, i could look up to see backlit clouds pulsing with the moonlight they hid from me.

And every painting of my face felt unrecognizable. Not because i was bad, but because my face no longer felt like it represented me anymore. My face had been arbitrarily assigned.

It’s when i started to paint portraits of the person i was inside that i found myself in my work. The person i actually am. The Human Being. How unfortunate that this face would otherwise hide the pulsing moonlight from you.
