Artist Statement
My art is inspired by the Hunters Point Shipyard in San Francisco where my studio is located. For 20+ years, I've researched its history and integrated it into my art, creating a more powerful message reaching a larger audience to learn about the shipyard’s contributions to events that helped change the course of global history. The work is rooted in use of historic photographs that are often structural compositions refined & transformed by my creative work-process to emerge as unique, contemporary, stand-alone depictions of the heroic scale of the labors of our urban past.
