I enjoy the challenge of technical realism as much as the freedom of abstraction, and I often try to fuse the two within a single work of art. I have a meditative approach to creating, and my paintings always end up intuitively evolving from my intentions. This is a portrait of my husband, Piyush. Through this portrait, I strive to capture the depth of his personality and what he means to me. His wild hair shows his mischievous side, his sharp gaze reflects his inquisitiveness. The dark outlines symbolize his strength, and the dripping paint reveals his vulnerability. I hope a sense of love and connection is made visible to each viewer.
