I have a strong, almost binary aesthetic and can be pretty picky about how items should be arranged and what constitutes a compelling composition. This sense of alignment becomes a governing hand in my decisions of what I wish to paint. I am quirky by nature, and my paintings are a reflection of this tendency. I find satisfaction in bringing to life ideas that deviate from complete representation and move toward a peculiar realism.

The painting I am submitting is from a collection of cactus paintings I created over the past year for an exhibit at the Napa County Library.
