Artist Statement
"Huq" is a response to the abortion ban. Seen in the artwork is Amrita Shergil, who was a pioneer of modern Indian art, and died of complications after a botched-up abortion at 28. This collage is an homage to her and millions of women who died due to lack of healthcare and access to safe abortion.
