Artist Statement
My current body of work explores the visual melding of the natural world with the factitious, usually juxtaposing urban and architectural details against the natural beauty of the night sky. I am interested in the liminal state between night and day when the light of the sky renders everything equal – an ecosystem of trees and cars and power line and buildings.
More recently I have started exploring patchwork in my paintings by cutting up and repurposing old canvases of mine. This process is a deeper exploration of my thoughts about natural beauty versus man-made beauty, and the melding of the two. It also brings up questions around cycles of creation.
