This piece is one of a series of mixed-media collages exploring my perspective of the historic and current inequities, complexities, systemic racism, and inherent imperialism of our constitution. For many, liberty is broken. Using the Statue of Liberty as a symbol of an ideal, just society, I chose to use the time-consuming, intricate collage medium as a metaphor for the diligence and complex challenges required to create liberty for all. What foundation is our constitution built on? How can we rebuild more equitably?
