My landscapes are not based on any actual places; they are rather the result of the compassionate observation of Nature, filtered through my memory and imagination. I think about my works both as Utopias and Dystopias. I intend to evoke a peaceful and contemplative mood but also to allude to the possible loss of the Earth as we know it.
My creative process reflects the processes happening in nature: turpentine drips suggest flowing water, multiple layers of paint - geological layers of soil. Sand and other natural materials could be incorporated in my work. Mixing them with paint becomes a symbolic gesture of reconciliation between the world of art and the world of nature.
