My work is highly autobiographical, depicting an intimate and surreal landscape of gender fluidity and contemporary queer expression. "Surface Tension" examines the literal and metaphoric tension that orbits our intimate surfaces; how our flesh fits or betrays our most personal identification, how skin pulls where it has been cut and reconnected, the disconnection between perceiver and perceived, and how the manipulation of our topical body can be the most profound expression of the authentic self.
