Artist Statement
I was in love. I was in love. I was in love.
In one way my work is about coming to terms with loss. That loss will happen but the more that I make it happen in a controlled setting the less it will hurt when it really hits. In another way I’m making a body of work that fluctuates with what I’m feeling when I look at it. Sometimes it’s thinking about time, sometimes about sex, power, intimacy, semiotics, documentation, relationships, presence, taking, etc. but it’s all relevant because it’s my hand, my time, and my energy that I pour into these works. I don’t want a piece of work static in its meaning, it needs to be able to adapt and be open to new perspectives.
