It's amazing to me what can be born and grow from torn papers. So much is torn in our culture--the wild, our land, our histories, our truths, our languages, written and spoken. But sometimes in the re-layering of it all, something new, unexpected, and beautiful emerges.

This work reflects that things in life happen by chance, and more often than not, are torn. I tore many different types of papers--new and old--glued them, and splashed paint in a process of multilayering. Took a while. Mostly I worked in the dark, not knowing where the process would head, but staying open to moments of visual revelation and surprise.
