Artist Statement
Since media ecologist Neil Postman's 1985 analysis of the television culture, the TV screen has been joined by the desktop computer, the laptop, the cell phone, the tablet (now embedded in cars and appliances, too), and media corporations with algorithms designed to sustain screen time. While we “scroll,” “stream,” and “share,” the poly-crisis continues to exacerbate material inequalities between and within the Global North and the Global South. Chance Cutrano's work "Live Stream” questions what futural modes of dwelling are possible beyond the screen? Are the rematerialization of the body and the reterritorialization of place still possible?
