I speak and connect through pigments, honoring the skin I am in, the cultures that built me and the women who raised me.

This piece was inspired by a moment with my children as I placed coconut oil on my girls’ scalp. As I did this, my oldest asked if my mom also did this. This gesture of love passed on.

Through my practice I see more and more the essence of human connection, emphasizing the universal threads that bind us all together. By highlighting the beauty within us and showcasing our shared experiences. I imagine a little girl like me, seeing myself in art celebrated. I hope a small part of her sees and feels our stories woven together with care and pride.
