My paintings are depictions of anachronistic mechanisms left behind by change, now purposeless, either broken or still operating, but always in relation to nature: either listening, receiving data - such as wind speed - or extracting, or communicating (as semaphores), or polluting. But no one needs the information. Nobody is listening to their broadcasts. It's just them and the clouds and space and their own actions. Some search for relevance; they create relationships, spirituality, maybe mathematics, maybe even marriage. The mechanisms and the landscape style are both put of time, both authentic and ironic. They are both making sense of the now using anachronistic tools.
