Artist Statement
At the Atelier School of Classical Realism, where I am a student, this lantern gets passed around as a still-life subject. I painted this over the course of several months, with lots of long pauses between sessions, due to medical and life crap happening. It was hard, and I still think it's not nearly complete. I want to repaint it again in a year and see how I improve. Only next time, only spend a couple weeks on it...not months. Ugh.
