“Sources II” is a representation of my transition from painting to sculpture as a young and developing artist. My relationship with the calla lily flower has opened opportunities for personal explorations of my survival and femininity within my art making process. The simultaneous delicate and hearty characteristics of this local flower connect to my lived experiences surviving abuse and the healing of my femininity. Like the flower, I possess a duality of delicacy and strength. This cycle of rebuilding strength despite sensitivity in an effort to heal and grow is a narrative I have observed in nature and in humans as we grapple with effects of trauma and abuse present within society.
