A nomadic suburban childhood created a fascination with the transient nature of belonging. My work deals with the understanding of place and location, through mapping, memory, and storytelling. Using painted planes, lines, and layered shapes, each piece is a complex retelling of a simple story. I aim to present viewers with a map holding both the fading echoes of the past and the emergent possibilities of the present-a landscape in flux. The underpaintings are lost to fleeting gestures of oil, resurfaced through carved shapes and recalled forms. My goal is to depict the tangible & intangible aspects of our experiences and invite viewers to engage with their personal & collective histories.
