"Springtime" is an abandoned Monotype print transformed into collage, and its tone is both playful and dark. Flowers float in the foreground without a garden and a small Lego man grimaces. Behind him loom ambiguous shapes and marks that suggest atmosphere without any point of reference. Whimsical and disorienting, "Springtime" unsettles traditional notions of beauty and landscape by placing the pretty with the despairing, and the earthly with the emotional.
