Alice Wiese is a Textile artist from Oakland, California. She received a BFA in Textiles from California College of the Arts in Oakland, Ca in 2012. Much of her inspiration is drawn from architectural patterns such as wrought iron fences, tiles, and brick. Her work is inspired by themes of grief, loss, change, and the process of rebuilding oneself. Her highly repetitive and detailed work is simultaneously chaotic and calming, with currents of order and repetition. Using only white thread, she experiments with the direction of my stitches, and how the light reacts to the thread, allowing her pieces to be experienced with different levels of dimension.
