Artist Statement
My artwork doesn't hit you over the head. It taps your temple with metaphor and allusion. There is quite a lot going on beneath the surface in each of my paintings - layers of paints, washes and varnishes, an alchemy of textures, intentional cracks and stressed surfaces. My subject matter is almost always women and my work explores the layers of our selves, those we show and others we hide within. My paintings merge realism, fantasy, and psychological depth.
