Artist Statement
"We Made Them in Our Image" is a photograph of a sculpture of a Centaur from the Archaeological Museum of Olympia. In Ancient Greek mythology, the battle between the Lapiths and Centaurs represented a clash between humanity and the brutes, symbolising the conflict between the civilised (Greeks) and the "barbarians."
Originally black and white, the image was artificially coloured with Neural Filters. The false-colour layers a painterly dimension onto the sculptural-photographic image and introduces a contemporary frame of analysis.
