This art piece is in honor of the memory of my mother. An avid reader her entire life, she loved Westerns in particular. After she passed away, I inherited boxes of her books. This old novel by one of her favorite authors, Zane Grey, was falling apart. I pictured my mother as a young girl on the farm reading the thrilling adventures over and over until the pages fell out. So I drew this portrait of her as a tribute to her as a young person and the magic of reading.
