“Apart From Others” is a product of the lockdown. Finished in 2021, is a response to isolation and the desire for human interaction. Solitude can easily descend into feelings of anonymity, and my art became a way to reconnect with society.
The lockdown, which I experienced as a kind of test, not only for my psyche, but for my body, its musculature, the rhythm of circulation and breath. The three figures in this work are connected in the most universal sense: they are me and they are the other. The tension in the muscles represents the tension that connects us during trying times.
