Artist Statement
"Swept in Americana" is a map of the working class, consumerism, minimum wage labor, and how such intersections between people and culture have crossed to build the foundations of our streets. It is a call to how saturated our day to day is filled with discarded products and imagery. At what lengths do American cities depend on the labor of immigrants and outsourced manufacturing in order to operate in their glorified states? Who is the consumer and who is consumed? Objects were all sourced from a two-week trip to New York City, from litter on the streets to food packaging.
